Construction of a new roof-top greenhouse on the Williams Village Center at the University of Colorado. This project included greenhouse equipment and new HVAC systems tied into the existing building utilities.
The greenhouse is equipped with high-tech features that mechanize some of the operations. Automated systems include sunlight, shade, temperature, and humidity levels. Sensors monitor conditions to allow efficient use of fans, lights, and other equipment.
This project is part of a larger renovation of the existing building which was designed to accommodate the greenhouse on the roof deck. The campus is pursing a LEED Platinum rating for the building.
Food grown in this greenhouse will be used for food services, providing greens in the cafeteria.
